St Gerards Junior School
This project consisted of firstly carrying out the entire demolition of the existing school building. We then commenced the construction of a new Junior School in its place. The new school building was built into the sloped bank of the site and required the formation of a tanked waterproof basement structure to the rear elevation of the building.
On the Floor above this a steel framed General Purpose Room and Gym was constructed which was sheeted with architectural clay tile rainscreen cladding. The rest of the external leaf of the building was constructed using reinforced concrete foundations, masonry blockwork with monocouche render and cedar cladding to the external elevations.
The entire building was constructed using in-situ reinforced concrete construction through a series of beams, columns, floor slabs roof slabs, stairs and retaining walls to form the structure of the building. A glazed courtyard was also formed to the centre of the school. We also completed all associated civil engineering works, landscaping and surfacing required to complete the project which included the construction of a new ESB sub-station along with over 1.5 km of ducting from the substation to the necessary connection point.
